New ceiling in the Games
Room ... new floor above it ... and some new guttering
So ... half a dozen birds-nests swept out of the chimneys, some badly-needed fettling of the roof ... and some fine (!) old wine found in the loft.
New wiring (thankyou Pete, our electrician ...
above left), new plumbing ... and the Old Horn
sign, soon we hope to be back in its rightful
place!
8 September ... a new fireplace in the dining
room ... a new Velux window in the bar ... the
beams all sanded ... and a new power cable
installed.
3 - 10 October ... some real progress inside the Old Horn, with a newly-levelled
floor in the bar area, and the creation of an open fireplace where we'll install a
double-aspect stove to spread some cosiness through the pub!
26 October ... unearthing some treasure!
(Probably would have covered the cost of a pint back in 1806)
Beginning of November ... Plastering has begun in bar ceiling, ladies' toilet and the games room, and the walls and ceilings fire-boarded where necessary
December ... and as the end of the year approaches, we look back on the fantastic
amount that has been achieved by our volunteers and our terrific team of contractors
A new floor in the bar area - and a beautiful fireplace for our double-fronted stove,
designed, donated, and installed by our incredibly generous Harmby friends,
W A Tunstall and Sons, builders, joiners and reclaimed stone experts. It provided a
welcome pit-stop for Santa on his midnight mission!
