Our Rules
The campaign to save the Old Horn as a community asset is being supported and assisted by The Plunkett Foundation, a national charity that supports rural communities across the UK to tackle the issues they face, through community business.

Community businesses are enterprises that are owned and run democratically by members of the community, on behalf of the community. From shops and pubs to farms and woodlands – and everything in between – the Plunkett Foundation’s network of advisers and specialists provides in-depth assistance to people who want to preserve vital and much-loved community assets.

To date, Plunkett Foundation has supported more than six hundred community businesses to reach trading stage. Among them are a number of rural pubs in North Yorkshire like the Old Horn, including the Green Dragon at Exelby, the George and Dragon at Hudswell, and the Countryman’s Inn at Hunton – all saved for their local communities when threatened with closure.
